Just as he struggles to keep it afloat, the city's cultural exhibition faces a crisis when its treasured centerpiece, a Ming Dynasty wooden carved model of an opera pavilion, suddenly falls apart. With the threat of further damage from a rushed modern industrial repair looming, Lin Banxia steps forward, relying on his nearly lost traditional 'Linglong Hidden Mortise' technique. He overcomes one challenge after another, from sourcing materials and preventing cracks to regulating moisture. Finally, he perfectly restores the cultural relic before the opening, using neither nails nor glue. His work astonishes everyone, wins the genuine respect of his competitors, and breathes new life into traditional intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship.
