Xia Xiaofang and her best friend Qiao Ni go on a seaside trip together, but unexpectedly, a huge wave sweeps them into the sea. When they wake up, they find themselves transported together to 1978, in Geshi Village, where they become two sisters-in-law in the struggling Lu family. Their former selves were timid women who had long been neglected at home. Now, the two women from the modern era decide to live differently. Supporting each other, they gradually adapt to life in the past, learn to manage their daily affairs, unravel old wool yarn to knit garments and other items to sell, and steadily build their own small business. In their free time, they take walks together and head into the mountains to clear their minds. As they gradually learn to get along with their family members, each grows closer to her own husband. Amid the simple warmth of rural life, they work with their own hands to build a stable and fulfilling life.

Xia Xiaofang y su mejor amiga, Qiao Ni, se van juntas de excursión a la costa, pero una enorme ola las arrastra inesperadamente al mar. Cuando vuelven a despertar, ambas se encuentran en el año 1978, en la aldea de Geshi, convertidas en dos cuñadas de la familia Lu, que atraviesa dificultades económicas. Las mujeres que originalmente ocupaban sus cuerpos eran tímidas y llevaban mucho tiempo siendo menospreciadas en casa. Las dos mujeres procedentes de la época moderna deciden cambiar su manera de vivir. Se acompañan y se apoyan mutuamente mientras se adaptan poco a poco a la vida de aquellos tiempos.
