Chen Yuan, a modern agricultural college graduate, unexpectedly transmigrates to the fictional Daxing Village in the 1980s, where she becomes a vicious mother-in-law. Knowing that a devastating famine is approaching, she uses her agricultural expertise and a system to change the Xu family's bad habits. She leads her family in making money by selling spicy turkey noodles and stationery, while also cultivating hybrid rice. Along the way, she deals with her gambling-addicted younger brother, her harsh mother, and jealous villagers. She rescues her abused niece and shares rice seeds with the villagers to help them survive the famine. Eventually, her hybrid rice succeeds, and she establishes a factory that leads the village to prosperity.
