A modern family of four travels back in time together into an impoverished farming family of the Great Jin dynasty. To scrape together travel expenses for her eldest grandson's imperial examination, the biased grandmother locks them up and starves them to the brink of death. An agricultural expert father, a master pastry-chef mother, an intangible cultural heritage blogger elder sister, and a genius student younger brother—the four face a hell-mode start empty-handed. Fighting toxic relatives, digging wild vegetables behind the mountain to build a secret base, crafting handmade goods, and scheming step by step to split from the household, the whole family unites to farm, do business, study, and carve out a prosperous life of their own.
