Waiting for a Bloom to Open, Waiting in Vain to Go Home
When he was nine, Xu Yanchuan smashed open the iron lock on a cellar and rescued his mother, who had been chained up for years. But just as they were about to get into the car, he overheard the Shen family saying, "How can we bring that beast's son back to the Shen family?" He pulled his hand away from his mother and said the cruelest words he could to make her leave. After she left, he survived in the mountains by begging for spoiled food and eating wild fruit. It took him fifteen years to escape. Fifteen years later, they reunited at a hospital. Dressed in designer couture, she looked at him coldly and asked, "Do you, a dirt-poor country bumpkin, even think you can afford treatment here?" But he was already in the late stages of stomach cancer, with nothing left but an old ledger listing the names of human traffickers.
