During the layoff wave of the 1990s, 13-year-old Chen Xiaoxing lost his complete home overnight: his mother remarried due to poverty, and his father, Chen Jimin, sank into deep despair. Facing this devastating crisis, the frail teenager didn't shed a tear. Instead, he snapped his father awake with sharp wit, supported their livelihood by selling popsicles, and used optimism and cleverness to stand by his father as they rebuilt life from a small appliance repair stall. He is his father's little star, shining light through the darkness. This is a heartwarming story of father and son supporting each other and rising from adversity—as long as the lamp stays lit, home remains.
