Modern young man Lin Chen is kicked into the sea by Gu Nian and transmigrates into a deposed prince in the Cold Palace of the Great Jing dynasty. After nearly being poisoned, he flees, and as he falls off a cliff he activates an Emperor System and is rescued by Su Weilin. Through a marriage granted by the court he obtains the fief of Lingnan, and with the system he summons elite troops and unlocks firearms far ahead of their time. He sweeps away the local strongmen, defeats 80,000 of the court's heavy armored troops and 300,000 iron cavalry from beyond the pass, and exposes a shocking secret: the crown prince is actually the illegitimate son of the empress and a foreign chieftain, and the late emperor was poisoned. Learning that the emperor has died and that his father-in-law Su Lie is under house arrest, Lin Chen leads an army of a million back to the capital, breaks through the city and wins over the garrison. Just as he is about to ascend the throne, Gu Nian suddenly appears, and their systems of the same origin trigger the ultimate duel protocol.
