In the Desolate Realm, spirit roots determine everything. Those with spirit roots can tread the immortal path and hold sway over life and death; those without, even if they spend their entire lives striving, can only end up as ants. With no spirit root and no background, he is merely a errand worker at the lowest level of the Glazed Sword Sect, enduring all kinds of humiliation, where even a full meal is a distant luxury. Just when he thought he could only scratch out a living in the mire for the rest of his life, while going up the mountain to chop bamboo one day, he accidentally picks up a rusty, broken sword named Fuxian.
