Born with mortal spiritual roots and crippled meridians, he was doomed to remain forever beneath the Qi Refinement stage. Mu Chen, a mountain herb slave, was captured by a poison master to serve as a living cauldron for drug testing, hovering between life and death. That is, until a withered vine parasitized his palm—capable of devouring poison, planting spirit herbs, and deducing alchemy recipes, all at the cost of offering it a living spirit herb each month, lest it eat him down to the bone. Nourishing the vine with poison and discerning herbs through sensory perception, he crawls his way out from among the drug slaves. A remnant recipe of the Dust Cleansing Pill, half of an Alchemy Cauldron Token, and the ancient tragedy of the wiped-out Cauldron Pavilion all point toward the legendary Alchemy Ruins. Alchemy, talisman crafting, treasure plundering, and relentless slaughter. With a mortal body, he seeks the Dao of immortality. Years later, when all living beings bow in reverence, who will still remember that youth who once scavenged for scraps in the medicinal dregs?
