Chen Mancang returns to his hometown to reclaim the barren hillside he leased, only to discover that the village chief Wang Changgui's family has occupied the land. Facing a water cutoff, false accusations, and pressure from the powerful clan, Chen Mancang relies on his mother's and fellow workers' support, using contracts, receipts, and old photographs to gradually defend his rights. When a provincial highway is rerouted and land is requisitioned, the Wang family fabricates proof of an animal farm and falsifies compensation claims, hoping to force him into submission by obstructing construction. Although Chen Mancang is the construction project manager, he insists on following the law. Joining forces with the villagers, he exposes the fraudulent accounts and illegal charges. In the end, Wang Changgui is removed from office, Wang Hu is detained, and Chen Mancang regains both his land and his rightful justice.
