Kindhearted woodcutter Chen A'mu, ignoring warnings from others, rescues the Jade Emperor, who fell to earth injured and lost his vital Jade Plaque, receiving three wishes in return. His first two wishes are used to save the entire village from disaster, but this attracts the greed of Zhao Dagang and Zhao Ergou, who repeatedly cause trouble and even collude with monsters to create havoc. A'mu ventures deep into a dangerous cliff abyss with everyone to retrieve the Jade Plaque. After fierce battles, a snake monster sacrifices its life to gain merit, ultimately transforming into a dragon and receiving a divine title. The Jade Emperor returns to his celestial throne to punish the wicked, while A'mu uses his final wish to heal his blind mother. Goodness is rewarded at last.
