A village hidden deep within Qingfeng Mountain is repeatedly terrorized by a giant wolf. The family of villager Zhang Qiang suffers heavy losses, with his wife Wu Wei's father and their young son A Bao both killed by the beast. To protect their home, Zhang Qiang and the villagers set out to hunt the creature, only to discover that its thirst for revenge stems from Wu Wei's father shooting a wolf pup years ago. Ultimately, Zhang Qiang and his people choose to lay down their hatred, make peace with the wolf, and set traps along the forest's edge to establish boundaries. Since then, legends of the Mountain God have spread through the thriving village. Twenty years later, Zhang Hui returns to witness humanity living in harmony with nature; sketching the scenery at the forest's edge as a wolf's silhouette fades into the sunset, the long-standing feud finally comes to an end.
