Call Me Black-Hearted for Free, Praise Me as a Good Neighbor for a Fee
For three years, Lin Huifang has been helping her neighbors, always offering to lend a hand and never asking for anything in return. Receiving deliveries, sorting goods, paying upfront, and carrying orders upstairs have all been part of her everyday routine. But the longer she does it, the more everyone treats her kindness as an obligation. One day, she finally refuses to carry three boxes of rice up to the seventh floor of a building without an elevator. Zhao Cuihua immediately turns three years of free help into an alleged duty. Instead of receiving thanks, Lin gets reported and slapped with a closure notice. She doesn't argue or make a scene. She signs the papers, pays the fine, and closes up shop. Only when the entire residential community descends into chaos do the neighbors realize who has been running around taking care of everything for them all these years. Thirty days later, she opens her doors again, this time with a notice clearly stating her prices and responsibilities.
