Xiaoman and Futuan
Fifteen-year-old Lin Xiaoman goes up the mountain to gather wild vegetables and unexpectedly rescues a snow-white little hedgehog. With three short, pale golden spines growing on its back, the round and clever little creature is given the name Futuan by Xiaoman. To her surprise, Futuan can find wild yams, hazelnuts, and medicinal herbs, as well as sense dangers along mountain paths, bringing new hope to the Lin family's difficult life. Jealous neighbor Qian Guihua offers twenty yuan to buy Futuan, but when that fails, she conspires with her husband to steal the hedgehog and force it to search the mountains for treasure. However, the little hedgehog refuses to obey, and the greedy couple repeatedly get their comeuppance. After Futuan is recovered, Xiaoman decides to return it to the forest. She believes they have said their final goodbye, but one year later, the little fellow returns with its entire family!

La quindicenne Lin Xiaoman sale in montagna per raccogliere verdure selvatiche e, per caso, salva un piccolo riccio bianco come la neve. Sul dorso ha tre aculei corti di un tenue colore dorato. Rotondetto e molto intelligente, riceve da Xiaoman il nome di Futuan. Inaspettatamente, Futuan riesce a trovare ignami selvatici, nocciole ed erbe medicinali, oltre a percepire i pericoli lungo i sentieri di montagna. Grazie a lui, la famiglia Lin ritrova la speranza di una vita migliore. La vicina Qian Guihua, invidiosa, offre venti yuan per comprare Futuan. Non riuscendoci, si allea con il marito per rubare il riccio e costringerlo a cercare tesori in montagna. Ma il piccolo animale si rifiuta di obbedire e la coppia avida subisce una delusione dopo l'altra. Dopo aver ritrovato Futuan, Xiaoman decide di riportarlo nella foresta. Pensa che quello sia il loro addio definitivo, ma un anno dopo il piccolo torna insieme a tutta la sua famiglia!
