At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Yellow Turban Rebellion broke out. Liu Bei, a member of the Han imperial clan, recruited soldiers in Zhuo Commandery and raised an army. He swore an oath of brotherhood with Guan Yu and Zhang Fei in the Peach Garden, and together they ventured into a world plunged into chaos. The three successively fought against the Yellow Turbans, rushed to the aid of Qingzhou, and repeatedly distinguished themselves in battle. Yet, because of corrupt politics and the abuse of power by influential ministers, they were repeatedly denied recognition. Faced with extortion by the Inspector and the darkness of officialdom, Liu Bei resigned by surrendering his official seal. When Dong Zhuo entered the capital and deposed the emperor, warlords across the land answered the call to punish the traitor, and Liu Bei embarked on a new journey.

À la fin de la dynastie des Han orientaux, la rébellion des Turbans jaunes éclata. Liu Bei, membre de la famille impériale Han, recruta des soldats et leva une armée dans la commanderie de Zhuo. Il jura fraternité avec Guan Yu et Zhang Fei dans le Jardin des pêchers, et tous trois s'engagèrent ensemble dans une époque troublée. Ils combattirent successivement les Turbans jaunes, partirent au secours de Qingzhou et remportèrent de nombreux mérites militaires. Cependant, en raison de la corruption de la cour et des abus de pouvoir des ministres influents, ils furent maintes fois dédaignés. Confronté au racket du fonctionnaire inspecteur et à la corruption du milieu politique, Liu Bei rendit son sceau officiel et quitta ses fonctions. Lorsque Dong Zhuo entra dans la capitale et déposa l'empereur pour en introniser un autre, les seigneurs de guerre de tout le pays répondirent à l'appel pour châtier le traître, et Liu Bei entreprit lui aussi une nouvelle aventure.
