The story of Chen Dashan returning to the impoverished Phoenix Village to demand blood debt and justice from the corrupt old village chief Zhao Fugui. Facing multiple murder threats such as Zhao Fugui hiring thugs to set fires and obstructing loans, Chen Dashan did not back down. He united Liu Jincui, a widow whose husband was murdered by her father-in-law Zhao Fugui, and his gradually awakening, timid younger brother Chen Ergou, to jointly launch a counterattack against the evil forces. To raise the 500,000 deposit to win back the contracting rights of the back mountain, Chen Dashan led the oppressed villagers to found the Black Bean Tofu Cooperative. During the entrepreneurial process, they adhered to the bottom line of conscience and successfully broke into the provincial capital's cafeteria and county supply and marketing system with excellent handmade quality.
