Ling Chen, a once-in-a-century genius disciple of the Qingyun Sect, is betrayed by his sworn-brother senior disciple, Mo Xuanchen, who pierces his chest with a sword and kicks him off Soulbreak Cliff. His lingering soul drifts at the bottom of the cliff for three whole years before he unexpectedly reincarnates into the ruined body of the legendary Divine Tree of All Spirits, said to command all living beings, and binds himself to the Divine Tree Evolution System. During those three years, Mo Xuanchen defects to the Blood Shadow Sect of the demonic path, claims the position of sect master, exterminates the entire Qingyun Sect, and searches the world for the Divine Tree. Starting as a charred tree stump on the brink of death after being struck by heavenly lightning, Ling Chen embarks on a bloody path of revenge with his heaven-defying talent for devouring all things and converting them into spiritual energy.
