Qi Laogen, a veteran chef with thirty years of experience in restaurant kitchens, is betrayed by his apprentice Xu Mao in a grab for power and forced out of the restaurant where he worked for decades. Left with nowhere to turn, he sets up an earthen stove at a suburban open-air fair, stir-frying big-pot dishes on the spot for ten yuan. With genuine woodfire aroma and wholesome ingredients, he wins over the local villagers. Consumed by jealousy, Xu Mao repeatedly tries to suppress and sabotage him using supply networks and pre-made meal gimmicks. Through culinary showdowns and trials of the heart, Xu Mao finally awakens, casts aside shortcuts and greedy ambitions, and inherits his master's cast-iron ladle. Together, master and apprentice uphold the artisan spirit, open a community canteen, and carry forward the purest taste of real, comforting home cooking.
