The Ninth Princess, Yun Zhaozhao, is doted on by her eight imperial brothers and the Emperor. However, the Noble Consort publicly humiliates her, claiming "a princess is an outsider," and even breaks the longevity lock left by her late mother. Filled with grief and indignation, Zhaozhao climbs the palace wall to protest by risking her life, prompting her eight royal brothers to gallop back on horseback. Uniting their forces, the brothers conduct a thorough investigation, uncovering the Noble Consort's shocking conspiracy to poison the late Empress and collude with vassal kings. Ultimately, the Noble Consort is brought to justice, Zhaozhao is conferred as Princess Changle, and the Emperor decrees the establishment of a women's academy—the princesses of Great Zhao need never marry.
