On a snowy night in Jiangcheng, noodle shop owner Yu Qingmei stumbles upon Xiao Hanshen, covered in blood. An embroidered plum-blossom handkerchief and a white jade pendant foreshadow the fate that binds them. To clear the names of her wrongly imprisoned parents, Qingmei enters the Xiao mansion. She thought the hardest part would be the strict rules and gossip, but what truly throws her off balance is the head of the family, rumored to be cold as ice and mute for years, and the very man she saved that snowy night. Everyone in the mansion knows Hanshen never goes near women, yet he carves Qingmei into his very bones. "From afar one knows it is not snow, for a faint fragrance drifts this way."
