Three years of severe drought have left thousands of miles barren. To save his sick mother, the young man Fang Yan risks his life to travel to Qingshi Town for porridge. On the way, he gives his life-saving porridge to a dying old beggar and carries him back to the village. His mother has already passed away, but the old beggar reveals himself to be the God of Wealth. He grants Fang Yan three wishes: a divine spring gushing from the earth, sweet rain to relieve the world, and his mother brought back to life. Thereafter, bullies repent, corrupt officials who attempt to seize the spring face divine retribution, and Fang Yan puts aside old grievances to lead the villagers in rebuilding their home. The desolate village finally flourishes into the prosperous Shenquan Town, where boundless kindness flows on.
