Su Wan, a master's graduate in ecology, returns to her hometown of Qingshi Village after more than a decade away, only to discover that the fireflies from her childhood memories have completely vanished. Determined to restore the endemic Luciola flavida species, she faces repeated obstacles from Qian Dafu, an outside investor planning to build a large-scale pig farm upstream. Since firefly larvae are extremely sensitive to water quality, the farm would lead to their total extinction. Supported by Village Director Gu Yuan, elderly beekeeper Uncle He, former village head Zhou Shoutian, and left-behind child Xiao Shitou, Su Wan races against time to save the very last wetland sanctuary.
