As a descendant of a prominent military family and a female general of the dynasty, Shen Yanxing is rewarded by the Emperor with an invitation to enter the palace as an imperial consort. Learning of this, Consort Ning, the reigning favorite of the inner palace, frames Shen Yanxing overnight, causing her entire household to be slaughtered and her family destroyed. Shen Yanxing seeks justice from the Emperor, but instead of punishing Consort Ning, he strips Shen Yanxing of her title as female general. Bearing a blood feud, she resolutely embarks on a path of vengeance to demand justice for herself: rising from an official courtesan in Pingkang Ward to a Jieyu in the palace, and finally replacing Consort Ning as the favored imperial consort. Yet just as Shen Yanxing finally avenges her grievance, she discovers that her real enemy is someone else entirely.
