Failed pathfinder Xu Zhaoye, desperate to save a sick child without travel permits, illegally uses a blank pass to unseal the city gate. In doing so, he accidentally resurrects Qixia—a demon realm wiped from the Grand Chart of Mountains and Seas fifteen years ago. Now overlapping with Yanhuiguan, only one city can remain. Escort officer Shang Zhi, the young divine beast Bai Chi, and pursuing officer Shen Yan each carry the scars of cities once erased. Pei Guanlan, the Imperial Preceptor, made the hard choice years ago to erase Qixia to prevent the Guixu abyss from swallowing the realm, yet turned an emergency measure into permanent tyranny. Ultimately, Xu Zhaoye gives up the search for an absolute Grand Chart, uniting the citizens of both cities to forge an open, living passage of hope.
