On the night of their grand wedding, Shen Fu was schemed against by the warlord's female adjutant, Lin Xuetang, and blindfolded to drink a nuptial cup of wine with another man. Warlord Pei Zheng failed to see the truth and intended to demote her to a concubine. Bearing the memories of her tragic death in her past life, Shen Fu publicly called off the engagement and asked the adjutant who drank the nuptial wine with her, Zhao Xiao, whether he was willing to marry her. Little did she know that Zhao Xiao was actually the marshal's fifth young master, Lu Yu, who had been living under an alias. Shen Fu refused to be a caged bird, turning around to marry into the marshal's mansion, while the evil Lin Xuetang and self-righteous Pei Zheng ultimately met a desolate end.
